Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka, known for its significance in Buddhism. It is believed to be the site where Mahinda, the son of the Indian Emperor Ashoka, met King Devanampiya Tissa of Sri Lanka and introduced Buddhism to the island in the 3rd century BCE.

Today, Mihintale is a pilgrimage site with many ancient shrines, stupas, and rock dwellings. Visitors climb a grand staircase with 1,840 steps to reach the summit, where they can enjoy panoramic views and explore the historic sites.
